Big Numbers

Everyone knows that a billion dollars is a lot of money, but how much is a trillion dollars?

The new presidential dollar coin is 2 mm thick, that is .0787 inches.

If you stack them up it would take 152 of them to make a 1 foot stack.

A stack of 1,000 coins would be approximately that of a tall man of 6 ft 6 inches.

One million coins would stack up to 6,561 feet or a little more than 800 feet higher than 5710 high Mount Wilson near my home.

One billion coins would create a stack that would be 1,242 miles high, roughly the distance between San Diego and Seattle.

1 trillion coins would create five stacks that would reach from the earth to the moon.  That is 1,242,742 miles.
